    FAQ for Clinicians

    Questions about using n1.

Ask us in a walkthrough →
How accurate is n1, and how do I verify its outputs?

n1 keeps supported extracted facts and report findings connected to the original source document and page wherever source metadata is available. This lets you open a source link and compare any result, diagnosis, medication, or narrative summary directly with the source record. Because AI-generated clinical summaries can still contain missing details, errors, or unsupported statements, every output should be reviewed against those sources before use.

Can I review a report before it reaches the patient?

Yes. Material statements can be checked against their available source links, and a report that misses the mark can be regenerated with revised instructions — from a refined brief or a reusable custom template. A report is not automatically sent to the patient: it becomes visible only when the clinician turns on patient access for it.

How much does n1 cost, and what is included?

See the pricing page for current plans, allowances, and included features.

How long does it take to process records and generate a report?

Preparing a small record of 2–5 pages typically takes less than three minutes. Longer records can take up to 30 minutes. Once the records are ready, generating a report may take a few additional minutes. Timing varies with the volume, quality, and complexity of the uploaded records, and scanned documents or mixed file types may take longer. n1 shows progress throughout record preparation and report generation.

What types of medical records and files can I upload?

n1 supports PDF, PNG, JPG, JPEG, TXT, CSV, and TSV files. Upload medical records as PDFs or images. Common examples include:

    • Laboratory and imaging reports
    • Clinical notes and specialist letters
    • Medication and supplement lists
    • Procedure reports
    • Readable genetic reports

When information is present and readable, n1 can extract details such as results, dates, units, reference ranges, diagnoses, medications, supplements, and procedures.

TXT, CSV, and TSV files are supported for raw genetic data. These formats are routed through the raw-DNA workflow and are not intended for general clinical documents.

Does n1 integrate with my EHR or pull records automatically?

Not yet for self-service accounts. Current clinician accounts use direct file upload. n1 is developing additional data import and export options, including potential EHR and EMR integrations. The appropriate integration model depends on your system, organization, workflow, and governance requirements.

Can I use custom reference ranges?

Yes. n1 allows clinicians to apply patient-specific custom biomarker ranges. The lab-reported reference range remains visible alongside the custom range, so both can be reviewed in context. Clinicians are responsible for ensuring that a custom range is appropriate for the assay, units, laboratory, patient, and clinical context.

Can patients access n1, and how do I share reports with them?

Patient access is optional. A clinician can share an approved report directly with the patient it belongs to and invite that patient to create or access their account when needed. Patients can create secure links when they want to share a report with someone else.

Can I brand reports with my practice and charge patients for them?

Yes. White-label branding is available as a paid add-on. With white-labeling, approved reports and the patient-facing experience can be presented under your practice name, colors, visual identity, and patient-facing domain. You may offer reports as a paid service within your practice and set your own pricing. However, patient billing is handled through your own billing workflow. n1 does not currently collect payments from patients or process patient charges on behalf of practices. Your practice remains responsible for billing practices, patient disclosures, taxes, professional obligations, and any applicable legal or organizational requirements.

Where does n1 fit in my clinical workflow?

Use n1 once records arrive. Check the results before you meet the patient.

    A typical workflow is:

    • Upload the relevant source records
    • Allow n1 to organize and extract the longitudinal information
    • Review extracted facts, trends, and source-linked findings
    • Generate a focused draft report or visit-preparation summary
    • Verify the supporting sources
    • Approve the final version
    • Share with the patient if appropriate

n1 is intended to support preparation, synthesis, documentation, and patient-facing communication. It is not a replacement for the EHR, the legal medical record, or clinician judgment.

Can I see a sample report before signing up?

Yes. You can review sample reports without creating an account. The sample report library allows you to compare report formats, structures, and levels of clinical detail. Sample reports use illustrative information. They demonstrate the workflow and report experience but do not guarantee the content, quality, or outcome for any specific patient record set.

Can I create a report for my specialty, a condition, or a custom report type?

Yes. Start with a built-in report or create a reusable custom report template with instructions for its purpose, audience, structure, and clinical focus. Select the relevant records and give n1 the brief it should follow when creating the draft. After generation, review the available evidence, refine the content and wording, and approve only the version suited to your workflow and patient.

Is n1.care HIPAA compliant, and how is patient data protected?

Yes. n1.care supports HIPAA-compliant workflows and maintains Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) with service providers and partners that handle protected health information (PHI) on our behalf. Patient data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3 and at rest using AES-256. Access is controlled through authenticated accounts, role-based permissions, and activity logging. Healthcare organizations can also enter into a BAA directly with n1 for workflows involving PHI.
